" Above and beyond "
I have been working out myself for the past few years after returning to Brunei. Expectedly, my performance has plateaued and I have not been able to go beyond mere maintenance of my strength and endurance. Thus I began to search for a trainer who can push me to the next level. A friend recommended Amal to me and I have been training with him for more than two months now. Don’t be deceived his boyish appearance. Amal knows his stuff! He is passionate about fitness and takes an interest in all his clients’ progress. He often goes above and beyond his duty by consulting with us about our diet, holiday workout plan, and even sleep cycle! At the gym, he is professional and very patient. He has no mercy in pushing our limits but he also recognizes where our boundaries are. His workout plan varies from week to week so that our body does not get accustomed to one particular regime. Arianne trained me physically and mentally. Arianne is someone that is easy to talk to. We also discussed about my eating habits too. Arianne is knowledgeable, patient, and a positive role model. I highly recommend anyone to train and workout with Arianne. She knew what was best for my body and taught me how to use the gym equipment properly and she corrected my form so I was not hurting my body. She taught me different techniques for different parts of my body to build strength. I built more confidence in myself and my body felt stronger and more fit. Also, I had more energy at work. I then started to take classes and met others that have the same mindset of being healthy and I felt like it was a positive community to be part of. Everyone cheered each other on. Also, there were adaptations for individuals. Some people were stronger than others or some people had different injuries. They always told us to listen to our body for our own safety.

"Taught me not to give up "
Amal cares about you and your fitness and that care brings a deserved trust from his clients. Speaking of myself, he taught me not to give up when I do my reps and do one rep at a time paying attention to the form. He keeps reminding me about a proper breathing technique which can make or break your form. Amal is also very good in identifying how small changes to the exercise form can make it more difficult of easier to perform, so it is very easy to adjust the exercise intensity. We also do tons of stretching with him which helps me with my joints mobility and a range of motion. I see a slow but steady progress in my strength, energy levels and a quality of life. Amal encouraged me to take positive steps for active lifestyle and pursue interests I did not think I was capable of at first but enjoyed later (such as dancing).

It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Arianne since January of 2020. Prior to my journey with Unfold Movement, I have been very active playing sports when I was younger and keeping up with my fitness. However, just before working with Unfold I felt that I was plateaued in my fitness. Therefore, I wanted to create a strategic plan in losing weight, increasing muscle and just improving my overall health. Immediately, Unfold Movement helped provide support on creating a simple way to track all this information to ensure progress is occurring. As an overweight individual with osteoarthritis in my right knee and a torn ACL in my left knee, I was very limited with regard to mobility and exercise, and I was tired of feeling this way. " sustainable regimen "
Amal was recommended to me by a friend and I started with him in July this year for a total of 2 cycles (8 sessions each). As a theatre/stage actor, a lot of my body goals were for aesthetic purposes but I was very pleased that Amal focused on developing a sustainable regimen for me as well. The biggest result was that I developed fuller arms and visibly stronger shoulders, as well as a more solid chest. I was able to work with heavier weights as time progressed and I gained more mass in key areas – as long as I was consistent with my workouts. I learned a lot more about my body and how to work around certain habits that I had (my left shoulder tends to droop more than my right) and that was something that I discovered thanks to Amal’s thorough diagnostic session prior to the proper training. What I love about Amal, aside from his patience, happy-go-lucky and understanding nature, is that he really explains each movement, which muscle it works and how it benefits you. I had worked with a couple of trainers before Amal and I can wholeheartedly say I felt the most comfortable with him and I felt in control of my body. I would highly recommend Amal as a personal trainer, through and through.

" I look healthier and happier"
I started my personal training journey with Unfold Movement this April 2019 at 43 kg (94.6 pounds) with the goal to gain muscle mass and strength. I had been working out on my own and decided it was time I took my goals to the next level with Unfold Movement. I started my program with Amal first where I learned about proper nutrition and a balanced diet. He held me accountable daily till I was ready to manage my food on my own. Amal was also very detailed in the gym about each exercise and explained the science behind every movement. I learned how important form was and gained a good foundation of a healthy lifestyle! Then my journey progressed to training with Arianne, who focused on mindset and lifting heavier. She’s very bubbly, positive, inspired me a lot and helped me to enhance my mental health. Arianne genuinely cares for her client and makes you want to perform better. She looks after you, and treats you like a personal friend. I enjoy every single session with Amal and Arianne. Lastly, I am really happy with my results not just physically but mentally as well. Within a span of 12 weeks I made so much progress with my weight increasing from 43 kg to 49.2 kg, smashing personal records for squats where I lift weights heavier than me, and feeling mentally stronger and more confident. It feels even better when my friends tell me that I look healthier and happier! Although I am still on my journey, I truly believe in their mantra of progress over perfection! A huge thanks to coach Amal and coach Arianne for whipping me into shape and building my confidence to lifting heavy weights on my own. I started my personal training with Arianne 2x a week in September 2018 and felt confident enough to train on my own in January 2019. In the short amount of time, I gradually felt more energy throughout my day and I wasn’t feeling groggy or tired as often. I was able to slim down 10-15lbs and push past all mental and physical barriers. I could lift heavier, I learned how to foam roll and stretch more effectively. She also helped me fix my form which allowed me to engage the proper muscles. She was able pinpoint different areas in my body that was lacking in strength to help me build balance in my body. Arianne is always looking out for my best interests because her approach is more catering to my needs. I always felt comfortable and enjoyed her positive attitude and encouraging demeanor.

I only discovered Unfold Movement in September and decided to give it a try early October. I trained with Amal for 1 month plus. I am going to start my review from the moment I register until my last training session. At the moment of registration and first session, I appreciated the fact that there was an effort to actually to get to know the me first, understanding my goals and reasons for wanting to start this training. It does ease the nervousness (seeing how I am a total newbie in the fitness journey and to a gym environment). Overtime with the training, I do see gradual changes, the shape of my body, my appetite , my weight too. Although 1 month plus, you can’t really see drastic changes. But hey, those subtle changes are much appreciated too. During the training session time, I appreciate the format of things. Each time at every session, I learn more of why I do the movements and how it will affect my body. Amal is not the type to would just make you do the reps, sweat and then let you leave. He would make sure you are well educated in proper forms of doing the exercises and have you understand why you’re doing it. Over time, I felt I am more connected to my own body more than ever. Further more, I appreciate the positive energy that Amal has, the ethics, principles and the respect. It is always a good vibe. I highly recommend Unfold Movement ! Guarantee it will be the best decision you’ll ever make. My only regret is discovering them late. It would have been nice to continue my training with Amal.
